The fifty-voice IUP Chorus, directed by James Dearing, will be featured at the National Collegiate Choral Conference this Thursday night, November 5, 2009, at Yale University. Only nine out of forty-one college/university choral ensembles were accepted nationwide.

IUP's Chamber Singers will offer a concert of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century masterworks this Sunday afternoon, October 18, 2009, at 3:00 in Gorell Recital Hall. This performance is free and open to the public. Highlights of this sacred music program will be double chorus music from Italy, Germany, and England.

IUP Music Librarian Carl Rahkonen and Music Professor Matt Baumer will host the fall meeting of the Allegheny Chapter of the American Musicological Society on Saturday, October 17, 2009.

Experts Tom Schmidt and Lama Topgyal will present lectures to IUP music classes and Honors College classes concluding with a free session open to the IUP and Indiana community on Thursday, October 1, 2009, in McVitty Auditorium, Sprowls Hall at 7:00 p.m.

IUP Music Department faculty member Dr. Linda Jennings will perform with the Arcadia Piano Trio on September 8, 2009, at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmund, Okla.

The Keystone Wind Ensemble has had a busy summer performing. In May, 2009, they performed at the International Trumpet Guild Conference held in Harrisburg, and this week they will perform at the WASBE (World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles) Conference.
