IUP’s annual Homecoming celebration takes place October 9–11, 2009. Find information about this year’s events and activities, from the Homecoming Ball on Friday to Saturday’s parade and children’s carnival to the Homecoming concert on Sunday.

IUP will host the first “Coal Bowl” football game on October 3, 2009, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Coal Association. The winning team will receive a coal miner’s pail trophy.

IUP hosted members of the Global Spectrum leadership team Monday, September 28, 2009, for a briefing about Global Spectrum’s management of the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex’s Ed Fry Arena.

The Memorial Field House swimming pool will be named in honor of the late John A. Pidgeon, formerly of Saltsburg and Indiana. Pidgeon established a scholarship for IUP men and women swimmers in 2004 and served as a volunteer swimming coach.

Global Spectrum will present information about its management of the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex’s Ed Fry Arena on Monday, September 28, 2009, at 7:30 a.m. at the Crimson Events Center.

IUP has selected Global Spectrum, a subsidiary of Comcast-Spectacor, to manage, market, and operate the Ed Fry Arena in the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.

The IUP Council of Trustees on December 5, 2008, approved the naming of the Suites on Grant residence hall in honor of alumna Donna Putt for her service on the Foundation for IUP board of directors.
