U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Projects Strong Job Growth for Anthropologists and Archaeologists

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics recently listed anthropology and archaeology as having faster than average job growth in the coming years and as being fields where employees make better than average salaries. It is a good time to be an anthropologist!

Archaeologist Chiarulli, Smeltzer, and Durante Participate in Ellis School Archaeology Program

For the past 17 years, Beverly Chiarulli, Anthropology Department, has assisted Ellen Bedell of the Ellis School in Pittsburgh with an annual simulated archaeological excavation and experimental archaeology program. This year, Chiarulli was assisted by graduate students Marion Smeltzer and Mark Durante.

Amanda Poole and Anastasia Hudgins, Department of Anthropology, published “‘I care more about this place because I fought for it’: Exploring the Political Ecology of Fracking in an Ethnographic Field School,” in the September 2013 issue of the Journal of Environmental Studies and Sciences.
