IUP to Host Maestro Honeck for Q/A Session

The Lively Arts and IUP Music Department will host Manfred Honeck, world-renowned music director of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, in a “Meet the Composer” interview and Q/A session on Saturday, February 21. Geared towards area high school students and IUP music students and faculty, the interview will be conducted by University Professor and Director of Bands Jack Stamp.

Pittsburgh Symphony Concert Includes Popular and New Works

After a February appearance was cancelled due to weather, the PSO is re-set to perform as part of this year’s Ovations! series. The concert, under the baton of Maestro Manfred Honeck, will now be presented at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2015, in Fisher Auditorium of IUP’s Performing Arts Center.

Co-production Offers Up Musical Tales

Theater-by-the-Grove and Music Theater at IUP will present the fantasy-filled musical “Into the Woods” April 16–19, 2015, in Fisher Auditorium of IUP’s Performing Arts Center.

IUP String Project Accepting Applications for Fall 2014 Semester

The IUP String Project, a community music education outreach program for children ages 5–18 in the Indiana area, is accepting applications for private lesson instruction on violin, viola, cello, and bass. Applications are due on September 10.

Jennings Leads First Cello Workshops and Performs World Premieres in Thailand

In July and August of 2014, Linda Jennings was invited to lead cello pedagogy and performance workshops in Bangkok and Chiang Rai, the first programs of this kind in Thailand.

Stamp Busy As Guest Speaker Clinician This Summer

Jack Stamp, director of Band Studies at IUP, had a busy summer appearing as a guest clinician at the University of Illinois and the University of Minnesota as well as serving as the keynote speaker for the the Florida Bandmasters Association summer 2014 meetings.

Ertl Invited as Performing Artist at Lake George Music Festival

IUP piano faculty member Jacob Ertl will join the performing artist roster for his second season at the Lake George Music Festival in upstate New York, August 14–21, 2014.
