Contemporary Collaboration Performance Includes U.S., France, and Japan

The Ovation! series will present Strings and Serpents, an international collaboration that explores a synthesis of Japanese and Western structures by merging musical and visual form, performed on October 22, 2014.

Steinway Artist Joe Augustine to Present Piano Recital

Acclaimed pianist and Steinway artist Joe Augustine will be in residence on the IUP campus and will present a free recital on Tuesday, October 28, in Gorell Recital Hall.

New Community Band at IUP

The Indiana Symphonic Winds is a brand-new community band. Auditions for this ensemble will take place on Thursday, September 5, 2013. There is no fee to join this ensemble.

IUP String Project Now Accepting Applications for the Fall Semester

The IUP String Project, a community music education outreach program for children ages 5–18 in Indiana and the surrounding area, is now accepting applications through September 9, 2013, for private lesson instruction on violin, viola, cello, and bass.

IUP Community Music School Registration Now Open

The new IUP Community Music School is now open for registration for Indiana, IUP, and the surrounding community. Private, noncredit lessons, classes, and ensembles begin the week of September 3.

Beeken Presents “Programing Masterworks for Any Choir”

Ryan Beeken, director of Choral Studies at IUP, discussed the many challenges choral directors face in selecting and performing quality choral-orchestral repertoire. He presented at the 2013 Pennsylvania American Choral Directors Association conference.
