Writing Center Tutor Selected for Scholarship from International Foodservice Editorial Council

IUP Writing Center tutor Emily Weber, an English and Journalism major, was one of five students in the nation selected for a scholarship from the International Foodservice Editorial Council.

Writing Center Satellite Opens in Stapleton Library

Students can get help with writing assignments at the Writing Center satellite beginning September 4. The satellite will provide walk-up writing tutoring on the first floor of Stapleton Library.

IUP Students Invited to “Lunch and Learn” with Professors

To encourage students to think about writing outside of the classroom, the Writing Center will host a monthly Lunch and Learn series covering writing-related topics such as literacy, genealogy, and publishing fiction. All IUP students, faculty, and staff are invited.

The Writing Center provides Web-based resources on a variety of topics. This information covers the many steps of academic writing and can be used in the classroom or as additional information for students.

Free Writing Workshops Open to All IUP Students

Instructors, do you want to encourage your students to visit the Writing Center? Try new proofreading strategies? Review MLA or APA documentation? All this and more is covered at the Writing Center’s free and open Wednesday evening workshops in 218 Eicher Hall.

Live Online Tutoring Available from IUP Writing Center

IUP students from every major can schedule live online tutoring sessions with Writing Center peer tutors beginning in Fall 2012. Faculty can request a brief in-class demonstration of an online session for their students.

Rafoth and Sabatino Discuss Online Dynamic Between Writing Center Peer Tutors and Multilingual Writers

Ben Rafoth, Writing Center director, and Lindsay Sabatino, Composition and TESOL doctoral candidate, published “World Englishes and Online Writing Centers” in the first issue of the International Journal of Innovation in English Language Teaching and Research.
