Foundation Announces New Officers, Board Members for 2010–2011

Following elections at the annual meeting of the Foundation for IUP board of directors, Timothy Rupert will serve as president, Richard Caruso as vice president, and Frank Kinter, Jr., as treasurer.

Interim President Selected

The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Board of Governors has selected David Werner as interim president for IUP. Werner, a former chancellor of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, served as IUP’s interim provost during much of the 2007–2008 academic year.

Culinary Arts Dean’s Recognition List for Spring 2010

The Academy of Culinary Arts has released its Dean’s Recognition List for Academic Excellence for the Spring 2010 semester. Students are named to the list for achieving a grade-point average of 3.25 or higher.

President Atwater Moving On to Leadership Role with AASCU

Tony Atwater will resign as president of IUP, effective June 30, 2010, to assume a leadership role with the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, a national professional association for public universities.

Promise Plus Initiative Receives $150,000 from Heinz Endowments

The Heinz Endowments of Pittsburgh has awarded IUP a $150,000 grant for continued support of IUP’s Promise Plus initiative, which aims to help students plan, prepare, and pay for education beyond high school.

June 9 Picnic in the Grove to Feature Contemporary Music

The weekly picnics in the Oak Grove will continue Wednesday, June 9, 2010. Recorded contemporary music will be played.
