Aramark will present a “Pink Flamingo Flock Party” luncheon to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation on July 9, 2009, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Crimson Event Center.

Financial negotiations have concluded for the final phase of the Residential Revival. Construction is under way for the Crimson Suites, a 596-bed facility along Maple Street between Pratt Drive and Eleventh Street.

The picnic in the Oak Grove on July 1, 2009, designated as Children’s Day, will feature the IUP Footlight Players Theater-for-Youth program and a puppet-making workshop at 11:30 a.m.

The Heinz Endowments has awarded IUP $160,000 for an initiative to help students in Pittsburgh Public Schools plan, prepare, and pay for education beyond high school at an accredited post-secondary institution in the state.

Sarah Flewelling, an International Studies and Asian Studies major from the Robert E. Cook Honors College, was chosen for a national fellowship for students interested in pursuing Foreign Service careers.

Raymond G. Edwards, a junior International Business and Economics double major from the Robert E. Cook Honors College, has been appointed a student trustee on the Council of Trustees.

IUP’s “Back to the 1980s” picnic in the Oak Grove has been rescheduled for June 24. The picnic celebrates Aramark’s twenty-fifth anniversary at IUP, and food prices are being rolled back to what they were in 1984.

President Tony Atwater has established the Center for Civic Engagement and Student Leadership and selected Dr. Caleb Finegan of the History Department as its founding director.

The Excellence in Entrepreneurial Leadership Center will offer an Entrepreneur-in-Training Camp for high school students June 22–26, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.

The Southcentral Pennsylvania Writing Project will present three summer writing camps for students entering grades six through nine.

Eight faculty members have been selected for IUP’s Academic Excellence and Innovation Awards, which encourage innovation in research projects.

Dr. Phillip E. Myers has been selected to serve as executive director of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Research Institute. He will begin his position July 1, 2009.

Dr. Sally McCombie, Human Development and Environmental Studies Department, has been recognized as the 2009 Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Educator of the Year by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.
