Jalongo Publishes Sixth Edition of Early Childhood Creativity Textbook

Mary Jalongo, Professional Studies in Education, and her coauthor Joan Isenberg, George Mason University, have just published the sixth edition of their successful textbook “Creative Thinking and Arts-Based Learning: Preschool through Fourth Grade” with Pearson Publishing. A number of alumni and students contributed.

Fennimore Presented Classroom Rules for Good Citizens

Beatrice S. Fennimore, Professional Studies in Education completed a presentation at the annual conference of the National Association for the Education of Young Children in Atlanta, GA on November 2012.  Her presentation titled "Beyond Keep Your Hands and Feet to Yourself: Classroom Rules for Good Citizens in Caring Communities" explored respectful and democratic classroom rules as an opportunity to teach the skills of civic responsibility in a democratic society to young children.

Kerry-Moran and Narey Present a New Approach for Struggling Learners in Reading Areas

Kelli Jo Kerry-Moran, Professional Studies in Education, and alumna Marilyn Narey presented a workshop, “Going Multimodal with Reader’s Theater: An Innovative New Approach Combining Effective Differentiated Reading and Writing Strategies to Develop Diverse Learners’ Fluency FOR Comprehension,” at the International Reading Association annual meeting on April 20, 2013.

Shannon Phillips-Shyrock, Curriculum and Instruction graduate student in the Department of Professional Studies in Education, was published in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Encyclopedia Of Camps And Ghettos, 1933–1945.
