On April 27, 2012, the Geoscience Department will showcase student and alumni research in the annual Geoscience Day. Ten students will present their capstone senior research projects, and alumnus Steve Smith ’01 will discuss his research on Alaskan volcanos.

Dan O’Hara, a Geoscience and Computer Science double major from Ebensburg, Pa., was one of 90 students chosen to receive an honorable mention from the prestigious Goldwater Foundation.

For the second year in a row, IUP undergraduate Geoscience majors have been honored with an invitation to present their geological research to an audience of professional geologists and engineers from the tri-state area.
