“Hidden in America” Screening Part of Common Reader Activities

The College of Health and Human Services will show the film Hidden in America on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. in Wallwork Hall. The screening is free and open to the community.

National Science Foundation (NSF) to Fund Biology Lab Renovations

IUP has received $951,578 from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to renovate laboratories used for student biology research and student research training activities in Weyandt Hall.

Business Opportunities Fair Set for April at Kovalchick Complex

IUP’s Supplier Diversity Council will present the Business Opportunities Fair: “Expanding the Mainstream” at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex on April 28, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Bratton to Receive President’s Medal of Distinction

Edward Bratton, of Indiana, will receive the 2011 President’s Medal of Distinction at the 2011 Leader’s Circle event March 24, 2011. He will be recognized for public service.

Kovalchick Complex Grand Opening Set for March 4

The Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex will hold a grand opening March 4, 2011. The event is free and open to the community. Doors open at 3:00 p.m, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 4:00 p.m. in the Ed Fry Arena.

School Psychology Programs Earn Full National Accreditation

IUP’s Post-Master’s Certification in School Psychology and Doctor of Education in School Psychology programs have both earned continuing, full national accreditation from the National Association of School Psychologists.

2011 Foreign Film and Music Series Continues with “Town Called Panic”

The Spring 2011 Foreign Film and Music Series will continue February 13, 2011, with Belgian film A Town Called Panic. Musical guests will be Kate Duncan on vocals and Terry Barnett on guitar.

Student Collecting Blankets for Baltimore’s Homeless

The Cover the Cold initiative, a used blanket drive for Baltimore’s homeless, is taking place on campus through March 7, 2011. Designated collection boxes are located in the John P. Murtha Institute for Homeland Security and the Political Science Department.

Webb Breaks All-Time Men’s Basketball Scoring Record in Win over Gannon

Darryl Webb of the men’s basketball team broke IUP’s all-time scoring record Saturday, February 5, 2011, against Gannon. Webb finished the game, which IUP won 73-58, with a career total of 1,729 points.

Child and Family Studies Grant Offers Student-Parents Support for Child Care

Child and Family Studies at IUP is the recipient of a competitive grant from the United States Department of Education to provide financial assistance for child care to IUP undergraduate students who are parents.

Emergency Services Training to Offer Educational Methodology Course in February 2011

Emergency Services Training will offer an educational methodology course starting February 25, 2011. This course is intended to prepare participants to teach emergency medical technician instructors, emergency medical first responder instructors, and rescue instructors.
