IUP Launches Graduate Scholars Forum

The School of Graduate Studies and Research is pleased to announce that the first Graduate Scholars Forum will be held on April 6, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. to noon in the Sutton Hall Blue Room.

The forum provides all IUP graduate students with an opportunity to showcase their original scholarship.

PASSHE Innovation Grants Call for Proposals

The Office of the Chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education is seeking System faculty members who are interested in commercializing their existing intellectual property, specifically demonstrated technology, inventions, and creations.

Funding is available through a Department of Community and Economic Development Innovation Grant to support faculty members in their commercialization efforts through May 31, 2012.

Innovation Grant Guidelines and Proposal 

Proposals are due to the Office of the Chancellor, via your project development officer at the Research Institute, by 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2011.

Chiarulli Receives Continued Funding from PennDOT

The School of Graduate Studies and Research is pleased to announce that Dr. Beverly Chiarulli, Department of Anthropology and director of Archaeological Services, received an external funding award in the amount of $30,590 from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for her project, “Task 22: Curation Supplement.”

Masilela Receives Additional Funds for “Upward Bound” Project

The School of Graduate Studies and Research is pleased to announce that Dr. Calvin Masilela, Department of Geography and Regional Planning, has received additional funding in the amount of $250,000 from the U.S. Department of Education for his project, “Upward Bound Math and Science.” The total amount awarded to date is $1,000,800.

Nuttle Receives Ecosystem Function Funding

The School of Graduate Studies and Research is pleased to announce that Dr. Tim Nuttle, Department of Biology, received an external funding award from Eisler Landscapes in the amount of $10,000 for his project, “Long-Term Ecosystem Function and Invasibility of Green Roofs under Different Establishment Scenarios.”

Consortium for Computing in Undergraduate Education Call for Proposals

IUP will host the Consortium for Computing in Undergraduate Education (C-CUE) on Friday, March 18, 2011. Undergraduate students are invited to submit proposals for a presentation on a topic related to technology.

Exploration of any technology related to an academic or student life project may be considered. Topics addressing how students used technology to solve a problem or research a question are considered valid. Presentations that summarize a semester or senior project are also applicable. Awards will be given for the best two presentations in each category. Cash prizes totaling $1,000 will be awarded.

Please see the Submission Instructions and Presentation Proposal form. The deadline for submitting a proposal is February 22, 2011.
