Dr. Jack Scandrett of the IUP Department of Music will present the results of a project using videoconferencing to coach a student brass quintet at the TI:ME National Conference in conjunction with the New Jersey Music Educators Conference, February 18–20, 2010.

Ms. Fabienne Fanord, a survivor of the January 12 earthquake in Haiti, arrived in Indiana on February 8 to pursue her professional development during the 2010 Spring semester. She will perform in the IUP String Ensemble Concert on March 30, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. in Gorell Hall on the IUP campus.

On February 12, 2010, Dr. Stanley Chepaitis will premiere the orchestral version of his composition “Paganini in the Vernacular” with the Orchard Park Symphony in Buffalo, N.Y. He will also perform his composition “Eveningstar” for violin and orchestra as well as his arrangement of Joe Venuti’s “Wildcat.”

TrumpetFest 2010 is scheduled for February 4–7 and will feature performances by IUP trumpet students and faculty members, along with a lecture/performance by guest artist Dr. Langston Fitzgerald, III.

Dr. Kevin Eisensmith, professor of trumpet at IUP, appeared as one of the guest artists for the fourth annual International Trumpet Festival and Brass Fest, held at West Chester University on January 30–31, 2010.
