IUP President Selects Nancy J. Newkerk for 2009 President’s Medal of Distinction

President Tony Atwater will present the 2009 President’s Medal of Distinction for Professional Achievement to Nancy J. Newkerk, a former IUP administrator, at the annual Leader’s Circle event on March 19.

Abraham Lincoln Lecture, Play to Mark Series

IUP Libraries will present a program on Abraham Lincoln for the 2009 Mary Jane Schafer Distinguished Speaker Series event and will co-present two performances of a play on Lincoln with the IUP Department of Theater and Dance.

IUP Selected for National Presidential Community Service Honor Roll

IUP has been selected for the 2008 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for exemplary service efforts to America’s communities, produced by the Corporation for National Community Service in collaboration with the Department of Education, the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation.

Congressman John P. Murtha will be a guest lecturer in Dr. Mac Fiddner’s American Foreign Policy class from noon to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2009, in McElhaney Hall, Room 110. He will lecture via video conference from his Washington, D.C., office

Musical “Anything Goes” to Be Presented February 2009

IUP’s Music Theater and Theater-by-the-Grove will present “Anything Goes” in the Performing Arts Center’s Fisher Auditorium from February 18–20 at 7:00 p.m. and February 21 at 2:00 p.m.

Music Fraternity, Sorority Raise Funds for Domestic Violence Shelter

Two IUP professional music fraternities, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Sigma Alpha Iota, raised $355 for the Alice Paul House, a shelter for survivors of domestic violence.
