December Commencement Ceremonies Detailed

IUP will present an honorary doctorate to one of its graduates and feature two student speakers, including an Indiana resident, at commencement ceremonies December 14, 2008.

Theater Production “Violet Sharp” Selected for Kennedy Center Festival

IUP’s production of “Violet Sharp” has been selected for regional competition at Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Region II, to be held at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia from January 13 to 17, 2009.

Residence Hall to Be Named for Former Foundation Board Member

The IUP Council of Trustees on December 5, 2008, approved the naming of the Suites on Grant residence hall in honor of alumna Donna Putt for her service on the Foundation for IUP board of directors.

Reduced Costs to Enable Start of Kovalchick Events Complex

After extensive negotiations over the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex, the project went through a value-engineering process that has enabled its costs to be decreased by almost $4 million.

Naomi Tutu to Speak at Kwanzaa Celebration

Naomi Tutu, daughter of Nobel Peace Prize winner Archbishop Desmond Tutu, will be the guest speaker for IUP’s Kwanzaa celebration December 6, 2008, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hadley Union Building’s Ohio Room.
