Object of Our Affection: IUP History to Be Shared in University Museum Exhibit

An exhibit of memorabilia, paintings, photographs, and scrapbooks from 1875 to the current decade will be on display at the University Museum, September 1–October 27, with a public reception on September 8 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.

Season Announced for 2012–2013 Ovations! Series

The Lively Arts at IUP announced the majority of what it plans to present during the 2012–2013 Ovations! series season, including two Broadway hits, a Broadway-related family event, contemporary dance, a string quartet, jazz, Latin folk, a play, and more.

ArtsPath Residency Assists At-Risk Youth in Butler County

ArtsPath visual artist and painter Bernie Wilke recently completed a residency at the Mars Home for Youth in Mars, Pa., where the youth created a mural, to be unveiled at the free MHY Historical Tour and Open House on October 1, 2011.

Fine Arts Dean Hood Elected to National Office

Dean Michael Hood, College of Fine Arts, has been elected to a three-year term as secretary of the National Theatre Conference, an organization of professional, academic, and community leaders in the American theater.

Holiday Classic “White Christmas” on Fisher Stage

Theater-by-the-Grove and Music Theater at IUP will swing into the holiday season with Irving Berlin’s classic family musical, White Christmas, December 2-5, 2010, on the stage of Fisher Auditorium of the IUP Performing Arts Center.

Music Department to Host World-Renowned Composer Frank Ticheli

The Department of Music will present “The Music of Frank Ticheli” on Sunday, November 14, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium, IUP Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature Ticheli as guest conductor and performances of his music by all three IUP concert bands, the IUP Chamber Singers, and the University Chorus.

Nestor Speaks on Exhibit: “elapsed”

Retiring sculpture professor and internationally recognized artist James Nestor will give a talk on Thursday, November 11, 2010, regarding his work and the current exhibition, “elapsed.” The presentation will take place at 5:00 p.m. in Sprowls Hall, Room 118-A. The exhibit is currently running in Kipp Gallery.
