IUP broke ground for the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex and celebrated a $1 million gift to name the 5,000-seat KCAC arena the Ed Fry Arena during ceremonies Thursday, November 13, 2008.

Retired Air Force officer Lt. Col. Robert C. Anderson, an internationally recognized behavioral scientist and social worker, will receive an honorary doctor of public service degree at IUP's December undergraduate commencement ceremony.

Indiana University of Pennsylvania will celebrate the groundbreaking of the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex, as well as a seven-figure donation to the project, during a ceremony at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 13, at the convention center's site along Wayne Avenue.

The Center for Family Business will present a seminar, “Recruiting, Hiring and Retaining the Best Employees,” on November 12 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology auditorium.

The Lively Arts will present the Pittsburgh Symphony Chamber Orchestra and Pittsburgh Camerata in a joint concert November 14 at 8:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center’s Fisher Auditorium.

The Computer Science Department will offer Information Assurance Day, a day of programs on the topic of information assurance, on November 7, starting at 9:00 a.m. in Johnson Hall, Room 247.

Friends of the IUP Libraries will present “The Golden Age of Workers’ Education and the Labor Chautauquas in West Central Pennsylvania” on November 12 at 3:00 p.m. in the Breezedale Alumni Center Library.

Six IUP graduates will be honored with the 2008 Young Alumni Achievement Award on November 10. A public reception will be held from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the Crimson Event Center in Folger Hall.

IUP will formally open its Pittsburgh office in the National City Building at 20 Stanwix Street with an open house November 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The office is staffed by Debra Valentine-Gray, director of regional advancement.
