Beijing Conservatory Conductor to Lead IUP Bands

The IUP Wind Ensemble and Symphony Band will present their final performance of the academic year on May 4, 2013, featuring guest conductor Dai Zhonghui of the Beijing Conservatory.

Emmy and Grammy Nominee and Radio Personality Seth Rudetsky to Speak at IUP

The Lively Arts at IUP will present Sirius/XM Satellite Radio personality Seth Rudetsky as part of its Ideas and Issues series. Talking about his favorite subject—Broadway—Rudetseky will speak on Monday, May 6, 2013.

Blues Artist Sonny Landreth to Perform Special Summer Concert

The Lively Arts at IUP will present Sonny Landreth as a special community summer event. Performing an evocative and vibrant mixture of southwest Louisiana blues, the concert will be presented on May 31, 2013.

Antonacos to Appear on Tenafly Library Concert Series

Dr. Anastasia Antonacos, a member of the keyboard faculty of the IUP Department of Music, will appear on the Tenafly (N.J.) Library concert series on November 7, 2010, with cellist Ani Kalayjian.

Premiere of Stamp’s “Five Songs from the Hills”

IUP Music Professor Jack Stamp had the premiere of his “Five Songs from the Hills” for soprano, baritone, and wind ensemble at East Tennessee State University on October 10, 2010. It was conducted by IUP alumnus Dr. Christian Zembower, director of Bands at ETSU.

Perlongo’s Symphonies Premiere in Slovenia and IUP

Daniel Perlongo, IUP Music Department, attended the premiere of two of his symphonies in Slovenia and will premiere his newest work on October 13, 2010, in Gorell Recital Hall on the IUP campus.

Music Alumnus Presents Lecture-Recital to IUP Percussion Students

On Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., alumnus Christopher Davis will present a lecture-recital for Music students. The presentation on Experimental Music will be held in the Percussion Rehearsal Room of Cogswell Hall, Room 117.

Composer Perlongo Premieres Work in Slovenia

Daniel Perlongo, who teaches composition and theory for the IUP Music Department, will have a new work performed by Ensemble MD7 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and at other tour locations in Europe during October 2010.

Wacker to Present World Premiere of “On Wings of Song”

Dr. Therese Wacker, associate professor of Flute in the Department of Music, will present the world premiere of Eric Ewazen’s “On Wings of Song: Concerto for Piccolo and Wind Ensemble” at the department’s annual Homecoming Concert on Sunday, October 10, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.
