Object of Our Affection: IUP History to Be Shared in University Museum Exhibit

An exhibit of memorabilia, paintings, photographs, and scrapbooks from 1875 to the current decade will be on display at the University Museum, September 1–October 27, with a public reception on September 8 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.

Season Announced for 2012–2013 Ovations! Series

The Lively Arts at IUP announced the majority of what it plans to present during the 2012–2013 Ovations! series season, including two Broadway hits, a Broadway-related family event, contemporary dance, a string quartet, jazz, Latin folk, a play, and more.

ArtsPath Residency Assists At-Risk Youth in Butler County

ArtsPath visual artist and painter Bernie Wilke recently completed a residency at the Mars Home for Youth in Mars, Pa., where the youth created a mural, to be unveiled at the free MHY Historical Tour and Open House on October 1, 2011.

Band in Review Returns to Fisher Auditorium

The IUP Marching Band, an ensemble of the Department of Music and under the direction of David Martynuik, will perform on Sunday, November 7, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. The concert marks the return of the always-popular Band in Review, part of the Sound Choices series this year. It will be presented in Fisher Auditorium of IUP’s Performing Arts Center.

Choral and Hymn Festival Presented by Carol Teti Memorial Organ Scholarship Committee

The Carol Teti Memorial Organ Scholarship Committee and the Department of Music at IUP will host its fourth Choral and Hymn Festival on Sunday, October 31, 2010. The concert will be presented at Calvary Presbyterian Church starting at 4:00 p.m. The program also includes a prelude starting at 3:40 p.m. provided by this year's organ scholarship recipients.

“Chekhov Lidzardbrain” Coming to IUP

The Lively Arts at IUP will present world-traveled Pig Iron Theatre Company in its award-winning production of Chekhov Lidzardbrain for two performances: Wednesday and Thursday, November 10 and 11, 2010, at 8:00 p.m.

Dance Theater Presents “Sixteen Dancing Divas” Beginning October 29

Dance Theater at IUP opens its first show of the 2010–2011 season with Sixteen Dancing Divas, an exciting new take on the classic tale “Twelve Dancing Princesses” by the Brothers Grimm.

Chorus Joined by New Piano Faculty Members in Sound Choices Concert

The IUP Chorus will perform alongside IUP’s newest piano faculty members, Henry Wong Doe and Anastasia Antonacos, on October 26, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. in Gorell Recital Hall, John Sutton Hall. The concert, IUP Chorus and Premiere Piano Concert, is part of the Department of Music and Lively Arts’ Sound Choices series.

Jazz Groups at IUP to Present Fall Concert

The IUP Jazz Band and Jazz Ensemble will present their annual fall jazz concert on Saturday, November 6, 2010. It will be performed in Fisher Auditorium of IUP’s Performing Arts Center. The concert begins at 8:00 p.m., and admission is free.

Isosceles Trio to Perform at IUP

The Department of Music will present the Isosceles Trio, featuring Heidi Lucas, horn; Richard Perry, tuba; and Lois Levanthal, piano, on Monday, October 11, 2010, at 8:00 p.m. in the DiCicco Rehearsal Hall, Room 121 in Cogswell Hall.

IUP Bands Set for Annual Homecoming Concert

The Department of Music will present its annual Homecoming Concert on Sunday, October 10, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. The concert will feature all three IUP concert bands, a world premiere, and three music faculty members as soloists. It will be presented in Fisher Auditorium, IUP Performing Arts Center.
