Evolution of a Class

 Permanent link

What is way cooler than the temperature outside? Our next Reflective Practice event from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, at the Crimson Event Center, of course!

Would you like to see what our continent looked like 500 million years ago, and learn how fossils are used to reconstruct the appearance of our planet at various times in the distant past? If so, join us as Geoscience Professor John Taylor presents on a different kind of evolution—the transformation of his Paleontology course over the past three decades (and counting).

Taylor earned a Center for Teaching Excellence Award for Content Pedagogy in 2011–2012 for the enhancement of this upper-level Geoscience class through addition of less traditional methods of instruction and evaluation both in and out of the classroom. Please join us, and share your thoughts about the subject!

Remember, you're never too busy to attend a Reflective Practice event; that would be like being in too much of a hurry to scrape the massive amounts of snow off of your windshield before driving to IUP!

Hope to see you at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, in the Crimson Event Center!

No RSVP is necessary.  Refreshments will be provided.

This event is open to IUP faculty and teaching associates only.

One of the goals of the Center for Teaching Excellence, as set forth in its original mission statement, is to develop mechanisms for recognizing the excellence in teaching that exists at IUP.

To recognize and support outstanding faculty members and teaching associates, the Center for Teaching Excellence offers awards that recognize teaching excellence and a commitment to our students.

$500 awards are offered in ten categories. Awards are by self-nomination only, except for the award to recognize outstanding teaching associates (which is by faculty nomination only).
