Finegan to Participate in Inaugural Pilgrimage Studies Workshop

Caleb P.S. Finegan, a faculty member in the History Department and director of the Center for Civic Engagement and Student Leadership, is one of seventy-five scholars worldwide invited to participate in the inaugural Pilgrimage Studies Workshop.

Civil Rights Project in Second Life Immerses Visitors in Historic Events

Communications Media students in the Simulation of Games doctoral class have brought the American civil rights movement to life in Second Life, an online, virtual world.

Martin Luther King, Jr., Commemorative Program to Kick Off Black History Month 2011

The African American Cultural Center will present a variety of activities free and open to the public as part of its twenty-first annual Martin Luther King, Jr., commemorative program and Black History Month kickoff on January 27, 2011.

Six O’Clock Series for Spring 2011 Kicks Off January 31 with “FUEL”

The Six O’Clock Series will launch its Spring 2011 season with a program on award-winning film FUEL on January 31 at 6:00 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium. Twelve programs are planned on issues from studying abroad to civil rights to sex.

Curt Cignetti Named Eleventh Head Coach in IUP Football History

Curt Cignetti, a twenty-eight-year veteran assistant coach, most recently at the University of Alabama, has been appointed the eleventh head coach in the modern era of IUP football. He is the eldest son of former head coach Frank Cignetti, who retired following the 2005 season.

Foreign Film and Music Series for Spring 2011 to Kick Off with “Afghan Star”

The Spring 2011 Foreign Film and Music Series will begin Sunday, January 30, offering a selection of internationally produced films and local musicians.

Martin Luther King, Jr., to Be Honored with January 2011 Events

IUP will hold several events in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., throughout January, the month of his birthday, and events celebrating Black History Month throughout February.

University Museum Exhibition to Celebrate African-American Heritage

The University Museum will host a free public reception Friday, January 21, 2011, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. for the exhibition Extra! The Art of Harris, Williams Brewer, and Shahn. The exhibit, which celebrates African-American heritage and landmarks in civil rights history, will be open through April 2.
