Object of Our Affection: IUP History to Be Shared in University Museum Exhibit

An exhibit of memorabilia, paintings, photographs, and scrapbooks from 1875 to the current decade will be on display at the University Museum, September 1–October 27, with a public reception on September 8 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.

Season Announced for 2012–2013 Ovations! Series

The Lively Arts at IUP announced the majority of what it plans to present during the 2012–2013 Ovations! series season, including two Broadway hits, a Broadway-related family event, contemporary dance, a string quartet, jazz, Latin folk, a play, and more.

ArtsPath Residency Assists At-Risk Youth in Butler County

ArtsPath visual artist and painter Bernie Wilke recently completed a residency at the Mars Home for Youth in Mars, Pa., where the youth created a mural, to be unveiled at the free MHY Historical Tour and Open House on October 1, 2011.

IUP Night at Heinz Hall Set for February 19

The IUP College of Fine Arts and Department of Music are sponsoring a trip to hear the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in Heinz Hall on Friday, February 19, 2010. A bus will depart from Cogswell Hall at 5:30 p.m., arriving in time for the 8:00 p.m. concert.

Local High School Musicians Join Chestnut Brass for Sunday Concert

The Lively Arts at Indiana University of Pennsylvania continues its 2009–2010 Performance Plus season as it presents the Chestnut Brass Company on Sunday, January 31, 2010. The concert will start at 3:00 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium of the IUP Performing Arts Center.

Contemporary Works in Wood Featured in Next Gallery Exhibit

The exhibit “The Far Side of Function: Contemporary Works in Wood” will be presented in Kipp Gallery from February 2 to March 5, 2010. A public opening reception will be held Tuesday, February 2, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the gallery, located in Sprowls Hall.

Faculty Piano Recital by Wong Doe on Saturday

Henry Wong Doe, an assistant professor of piano with the IUP Department of Music, will perform a program of works by Bach, Ligeti, Chopin, Farr, and Mussorgsky in Gorell Recital Hall, located on the second floor of John Sutton Hall. The recital will be presented on Saturday, January 23, 2010, at 8:00 p.m., and admission is free.

M.F.A. Thesis Exhibition This Week in Kipp Gallery

The exhibit will run today through Saturday, January 23, 2010, in Kipp Gallery, located in Sprowls Hall. A reception will be held on Friday, January 22, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Regional Theater Festival at IUP Responds to Haiti Crisis

As the devastating earthquakes hit Haiti, over one thousand students and faculty members from university theater programs across the region, along with dozens of professionals from around the country, were headed to Indiana and the IUP campus. Over 1,200 in number, they were on their way to the Region 2 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival.

IUP Theater and Dance Artists Score in Pittsburgh

Unseam’d Shakespeare Company’s professional production of Macbeth 3, directed by Dean of Fine Arts Michael Hood with choreography by Theater and Dance professor Joan Van Dyke, was selected as one of the top theater events in Pittsburgh for 2009 by the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.
