Grace Kelly Set for Jazz Concert as Season Finale

For its finale to this season’s Ovations! series, the Lively Arts at Indiana University of Pennsylvania will feature renowned musician, singer, and songwriter Grace Kelly on Thursday, April 24.

Percussion Ensemble Takes on Fisher

For the first time in over a decade, the IUP Percussion Ensemble will present its Spring Concert in Fisher Auditorium, moving from its normal venue of Gorell Recital Hall. This free concert is on Tuesday, April 22.

“Pipe Dreams” Combines Orchestra and Organ

The IUP Music Department will conclude the 2013–2014 performance season with a unique concert titled “Pipe Dreams,” featuring the IUP Symphony Orchestra and organist Christine Clewell, on Sunday, May 4.

Guest Artists from Puebla Mexico to Perform with IUP Music Faculty and Students

Visiting cellist Juan Hermida and pianist Misa Ito will present an evening of chamber music—including performances with IUP Music Department faculty members Mary Hastings, Linda Jennings, and Stanley Chepaitis and the IUP Cello Choir—on Tuesday, April 15, in Gorell Hall.

Music Department to Receive Pipe Organ from American Guild of Organists

The Department of Music will add a notable instrument this spring to its already vast keyboard collection. In May 2014, the department will make way amid its 93 Steinway pianos for the Pogorzelski-Yankee Memorial Organ, valued at $400,000.

Voice Students Excel at NATS Competition

On November 14, 2008, eleven students from the IUP Music Department travelled to the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Allegheny Mountain Chapter student auditions at Elizabethtown College. IUP students represented themselves very well.
