Recently, Justin Little M'07 traveled to Indonesia to participate on a two-person team that completed an emergency services and response assessment of Chevron's Kalimantan Operations in Balikpapan.

There are currently four scholarship available to IUP Safety Sciences students: the David L. Johnson Family Safety Sciences Award, a Chevron Scholarship, an Alcoa Campus Partnership Program Scholarship, and the Mid-Atlantic Construction Safety Council Safety Scholarship.

The Western Pennsylvania Chapter of ASSE has recognized IUP Safety Sciences students for participating in the Kennywood Fall Protection tour, which took place in October 2008.

The Safety Sciences Department would like to congratulate Dr. Lon Ferguson on being chosen as a Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Director. Dr. Ferguson was appointed in January 2009 and will serve a three-year term.
