Dr. Joseph W. Bencloski, professor of Geography and Regional Planning, participated in the Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS) program on November 21, 2009. He presented a workshop titled “Up Close from Space: Using Satellite Images to Understand Earth’s Surface.”

Paul Price’s academic niche is right where he loves to be most. An avid outdoorsman who enjoys kayaking, four-wheeling, and especially geocaching, Paul is a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) major in the Geography and Regional Planning Department.

Sara Fortnam, a Geography graduate student at IUP, received the best graduate student research award, and Joseph Bencloski, professor of Geography, received the PGS 2009 Distinguished Service Award at the annual meeting of the Pennsylvania Geographical Society in West Chester on October 23, 2009.

The Geography and Regional Planning Department’s Weather Station webpage is back up and running. The Weather Station is located on the roof of Leonard Hall in the heart of the Oak Grove.

IUP Geography and Regional Planning alumnus Daniel Veit recently codeveloped an iPhone application called AccuTerra, which won Apple’s award for the Best iPhone OS 3.0 Beta App at the annual Apple Design Awards session.
