Approximately five hundred new students will move in to IUP residence halls on Saturday, August 21, 2010, to participate in CUSP: The College Undergraduate Success Program.
The program begins on Sunday with check-in, tours, and a motivational presentation by Dr. Joe Martin in Fisher Auditorium.
Classes are scheduled from Monday through Friday. All students are registered for the one-credit course Introduction to Higher Education, and are also required to participate in a series of workshops related to the goals of the course. Students who volunteer for the program pay the course tuition plus fees and dining and are housed in their Fall room assignment.
This year marks the eleventh year for the successful program, created by the Department of Developmental Studies. Yearly evaluations show that 98 percent of the students experience a high level of satisfaction and academic benefits from participation.
