The ceramics studio of the IUP Department of Art will once again present its Empty Bowls event to benefit the Indiana County food bank. This event takes place Tuesday, March 2, 2010, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It will be held at the University Square Complex at the corner of Grant Street and Oakland Avenue, adjacent to the Commonplace Coffeehouse in Indiana.
IUP alumni and local area potters Nancy Smeltzer, Josh Floyd, and Harmony Ritchie are working in conjunction with the IUP ceramics studio to organize this charitable fundraiser.
For the cost of only $10, you can select a handmade pottery bowl, fill it with delicious soup and a slice of bread, and then keep the bowl. Beautiful handmade bowls have been donated by local potters, and the soups have been donated by local businesses and individuals who wanted to lend a hand. Empty Bowls is a national organization that functions at the grassroots level.
