Unseam’d Shakespeare Company’s professional production of Macbeth 3, directed by Dean of Fine Arts Michael Hood with choreography by Theater and Dance professor Joan E. Van Dyke, was selected as one of the top theater events in Pittsburgh for 2009 by the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.
Macbeth 3, a three-person adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy of witchcraft, ambition, betrayal, and bloodshed, was presented in June at the Open Stage in the Strip District. The play, an expressionist vision featuring extensive light and sound effects, excellent set and costume design, tight ensemble acting, exciting fight choreography, and casting across gender—the cast included two women and one man, with the man playing Lady Macbeth—was also selected by the Pittsburgh City Paper for 2009 honors.
