Dr. Steve Hovan of the Department of Geoscience has a new book review on a subject that is, as he says, near and dear to his heart and stomach.
His review of Glazed America—A History of the Doughnut by Paul R. Mullins brings to light his not-so-secret love of the breakfast confection. This review was done for the Society for the Anthropology of Food and Nutrition, which notes that although he is not a nutritional anthropologist, he is a “devoted aficionado of doughnuts” and thus aptly suited to review this new work.
