This summer, a number of IUP students and faculty members are visiting the island of Cyprus, located in the eastern Mediterranean. Twenty-five IUP students from the Cook Honors College are participating in a student tour led by Dr. Janet Goebel (English) and Dr. R. Scott Moore (History) to Turkey and Cyprus.
The five-week trip will include visits to numerous sites, such as Istanbul, Ephesus, Hattusa, Cappadocia, Paphos. and Nicosia. In addition to the study tour, several IUP faculty members are participating in the Pyla-Koutsopetria Archaeological Project (PKAP). Dr. Beverly Chiarulli (Anthropology) and Dr. Nick Karatjas (Economics) will be joining Moore in Pyla, Cyprus, for the seventh field season of the archaeological project, which is investigating the development of a coastal site from the Bronze Age through the medieval period.
