Economics majors Patrick Edwards and Hannah Mercer were invited by the IUP School of Graduate Studies and Research to present their award-winning project, titled “An Analysis of Gender Inequality in Professional Tennis,” from the 2016 Undergraduate Scholars Forum at the Undergraduate Research at the Capitol–Pennsylvania event, held on April 25, 2017, in Harrisburg. Their poster was one of four representing IUP at the event.

According to its web page, the Undergraduate Research at the Capitol–Pennsylvania poster conference “...is an educational event allowing the undergraduate students enrolled in Pennsylvania’s colleges and universities to showcase their research talents to the Commonwealth’s key decision-makers.”

A total of 104 undergraduate students representing 41 colleges and universities from across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania participated.

Patrick and Hannah had the opportunity to discuss their work with mathematics/economics graduate, Representative Dave Reed ('00) from the 62nd District, and safety sciences graduate, Representative Eric Nelson (’91, M’10) from the 57th District in the East Wing Rotunda of the Capitol Building.
