Jack Stamp, director of Band Studies at IUP, had a busy summer appearing as a guest clinician at the University of Illinois and the University of Minnesota as well as serving as the keynote speaker for the the Florida Bandmasters Association summer 2014 meetings.
Stamp was a conducting clinician at both the University of Illinois and the University of Minnesota, where he gave lectures and coached teachers in the art of conducting. Participants from over 20 states took part in the workshops.
His keynote address to the FBA was entitled “Band kids score higher on the SAT. Who cares?” The presentation was on advocacy and stressing the importance of music as an academic subject.
In addition, Stamp was the summer clinician for the Minnesota Band Directors Association summer all-state event.
