At a dinner in Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex, two IUP students provided their thanks on behalf of all students who have benefited from scholarship support provided by alumni and friends of who have established endowment funds in the Foundation for IUP.
Sarah Peles, a freshman Nursing major who received the Kuzneski Family Scholarship, and Marc Colón, a sophomore Finance major who benefits from the Nadav and Nancy Baum Scholarship, both told their stories to an audience of approximately 150 guests that included fellow scholarship awardees, benefactors, and university representatives.
The dinner, held April 2, 2014, was the first event of its kind at IUP, organized by the
University Advancement Division to recognize those who support IUP with private giving—particularly endowed academic scholarship funds—and to salute the students who earn those awards through their accomplishments.
Next year's Celebration of Endowed Scholarships is set for April 10, 2015.
“As a university community, we are deeply grateful for the support we receive from our generous scholarship donors,” Evan Bohnen, associate vice president for Development, said. “They make a meaningful impact every day on our very talented students. We look forward to hosting a larger event to celebrate their generosity next year.”
