Jalongo Advises PBS Children’s Educational Television

Mary Jalongo, Professional Studies in Education, is working with Children’s Television Workshop to advise them on the educational content of Sesame Street.

This popular program for young children has been in existence since 1969 and offers similar programs throughout the world. The goal of the project is to plan episodes of the program Sesame Street that focus on building vocabulary, particularly for young English language learners. Through the support of a PNC grant, families and teachers will be supplied with free resources that include books, games, and mobile apps related to the program’s content.

Jalongo also served as a consultant for PBS Boston’s Martha Speaks!, another show that supports early literacy.
