Maureen McHugh, Department of Psychology, received an Education and Training Conference grant
for $2,500 from the Board of Educational Affairs (BEA) of the American Psychological Association (APA).
The BEA award is given in support of conferences and workshops on
graduate education and training in psychology. The funds will be used to support a one-day training session on sexual harassment
in school featuring a keynote address by Nan Stein, PhD. A nationally recognized expert on bullying
and sexual harassment in the schools, Stein is a senior research scientist
at Wellesley Center for Women.

The training is embedded in a four-day,
multidisciplinary conference focused on prevention, response, and coping with
violence and trauma across the lifespan. The REACH conference offered at IUP on May 20–24, 2014, is being developed by a cross-college
committee which includes Pearl Berman and Maureen McHugh (Psychology) and
Christian Vaccaro (Sociology). McHugh and Berman are also involved in the development of a violence education
curriculum at IUP.
