An hour-long webcast featuring Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) officials will be held beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, to provide information about a proposed policy that would restrict the possession of “deadly or offensive weapons” on PASSHE university campuses.
A panel of System officials will be available to respond to questions about the proposed policy. The webcast may be viewed at the PASSHE website.
The webcast will originate from the administration building at the Dixon University Center, 2986 N. Second Street. Interested persons may participate in the webcast in person or may submit comments or questions in advance via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The goal of this process is to assure that the PASSHE universities continue to provide a safe and secure learning environment for students by adopting a unified weapons management policy that is consistent with both state and federal laws. The Board of Governors likely will consider the proposed policy, which was developed based on recommendations of the PASSHE Public Safety and Security Task Force, at its regular quarterly meeting scheduled for later this month.
