Intersecting Sparks: Art and Science, Research and Imagination will air at 7:00 p.m. and at 11:00 p.m. on WPSU-PBS* on Sunday, September 29, 2013.
This hour-long documentary, shot entirely on location in Israel in Summer 2012, was developed by Communications Media professor and executive producer Mary Beth Leidman with assistant producer T. J. Brown, Comm Media doctoral student, in conjunction with the Department of Communications Media, Mark Piwinsky, chair.
It portrays the story of Israeli sculptor and geophysicist Michael Lazar. Lazar splits his time and vocations into two parts: Half of his life he toils in an art studio as a cold metal sculptor, while the other half is spent researching and exploring ancient rocks—especially in relationship to the Dead Sea.
A special showing of Intersecting Sparks will also take place in the Kovalchick Complex on Thursday, October 11, at 7:30 p.m. as a pre-PASSHE Collegiate Media Summit Conference activity to be held October 12–13, 2013.
