More than 750 students attended meetings and listened to presentations by experts in the field at Eberly College of Business and Information Technology’s premiere professional development and networking event: Business Day XXXV.
The Charles B. Stevenson Memorial Business Day, held April 17, 2013, in Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex, began with morning departmental discussions from 8:30–9:30 a.m. and then five separate presentations from 9:30–10:45 a.m.
Presenters for Accounting, Finance and Legal Studies, Marketing, Management, and Management Information Systems and Decision Sciences students respectively included: Alice J. Maxin, author and president of the Write Turn; Jim Leda ’95, managing director in the Debt Restructuring Group at PPM America, Inc.; David Mastovich, president of MASSolutions, a strategic marketing and change management firm; Malisa Sommers ’87, managing director of transportation at United States Steel Corporation and president of Transtar, Inc., a subsidiary of U.S. Steel; and George Appley, senior vice president and chief information officer of Concurrent Technologies Corporation.
“Business Day is an excellent event to attend as it allows business students to network with real-world business leaders,” Janelle Stayt, junior Marketing major, said.
A networking event with 50 business leaders/advisory council members and students followed in Ed Fry Arena.
“The Business Advisory Council members and other business guests who attended were very helpful in giving us advice for our future endeavors,” Laci McAdams, senior Human Resource Management major, said.
Business Day concluded with a Hall of Distinction Luncheon program which recognized five Eberly alumni.
