Teri Gilmore, a Child Development and Family Relations student, presented at the ninth International Conference on Environmental, Cultural, Economic, and Social Sustainability in Hiroshima, Japan, in January 2013. Her topic was “A Swim, Recreation, and Education Program for At-Risk Children.”
Her work began as a class assignment (for CDFR 411: Family and Community) and grew into the development of a community program teaching swimming, guiding children towards healthy food choices, and encouraging physical activity.
Gilmore previously presented her work at last year’s Undergraduate Scholars Forum.
