Obie-winning playwright Carid Svich’s new play, Spark, will be read at IUP’s Studio Theater as part of a national play-reading to honor war veterans in time for Veterans Day and the national elections.
The play concerns a family of sisters in North Carolina, one of whom is a returning war veteran, and how the sisters find ways to make do with little economic means. Svich describes the play as “a contemporary U.S. story of faith, love, war, trauma, and a bit of healing.”
The reading will be directed by Michael Schwartz, and will take place on Friday, November 9, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. in the Studio Theater in Waller Hall. Admission is free.
