Professor John Mueller (photo, right), Department of Student Affairs in Higher Education, and graduate students Zachary Beaver and Kristin Brewer joined faculty, staff, and students from eight U.S. universities on a study tour of higher education in Ireland from May 21 to June 1, 2012.
The study tour, coordinated by Miami University of Ohio and the University of Vermont, examined the delivery of higher education in Ireland, including admissions, curriculum, and student services.
The tour included institutional visits to Dublin Institute of Technology, University College Dublin, Trinity College, Institute of Technology Sligo, National University of Ireland Galway, and National University of Ireland Cork. In addition, tour participants met with officials from the Higher Education Authority, the Central Application Office, and the Union of Students.
The trip was rounded out by visits to some of Ireland’s most significant cultural and historical landmarks in Connemara, Kylemore Abbey, Cliffs of Moher, Burren County, the Dingle Peninsula, and Glendalough.
