The President’s Commission on the Status of Women at IUP will host its annual Women’s Conference, focusing on the personal and professional development of women, Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.
Participants may attend for a full day, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or just the morning or afternoon session. Both half-day sessions include lunch and the keynote presentation.
The keynote speaker will be Ruth Modzelewski, mission coordinator with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s Pittsburgh affiliate. Headquartered in Dallas, Komen for the Cure is a foundation dedicated to education and research about causes, treatment, and the search for a cure for breast cancer.
A two-time breast cancer survivor, Modzelewski will share insights from her journey—from a science nerd to a public health advocate. She is a former faculty member in the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Medicine.
The conference also will feature workshops on women’s health, technology, organizational tips, diet and nutrition, family management, meditation and yoga, self-defense, and workplace ergonomics. A full list of workshops will be available soon.
The theme of this year’s conference is “In Sisterhood,” and Indiana Regional Medical Center’s Spirit of Women program is the cosponsor.
The conference is free to IUP employees, with the registration fee paid by division vice presidents. The cost is $30 for IRMC employees, Spirit of Women members, IUP retirees, and current students. Other attendees will pay $50 for a full day or $35 for a half day.
Register on the IUP Marketplace website to attend the conference.
Tables for vendors or others who wish to display information are free for IUP departments, offices, programs, and services and $25 for the general public. To reserve a vending/display table, please complete the Vendor Registration Form.
