Ramesh Soni, chairperson of the Management Department, was invited by the Orient Institute of Management (University of Mumbai) to make a presentation to the faculty of the institute.
His presentation was a part of their ongoing faculty development seminar series. Soni’s talk mainly centered around the impact of the then-recent reversal of the Indian government’s ruling on foreign direct investment in the retail sector. The ruling possibly caused a further flight of foreign capital from India, resulting in an immediate significant devaluation of the Indian rupee. He also addressed questions on curriculum and pedagogy-related issues. The presentation was made on December 20, 2011.
The director general of the Institute, M. G. Shirahatti, hosted a luncheon in the honor of Soni, which was attended by 15 to 20 faculty members and a dozen invited alumni and current students.
