The recent End of Life (ELNEC) Workshop collaboration with VNA Hospice, Windber Medical Center, and Indiana Regional Medical Center that was held at the new Kovalchick Complex was a huge success, with 100 attendees, many of whom were interested nurses seeking 8.0 CEUs via IRMC and ELNEC certification via AACN.
Plans are underway for a Spring 2013 workshop with a Vulnerable Communities/Populations' Care theme.
The End of Life Program held at Kovalchick Complex featured guest speakers Kim Ondrizek, VNA-Hospice, and Michelle Hamula, Carol Pugh, and Roxann Burkey of Widber Medical Center. The program covered palliative care, pain management, symptom management, ethics, cultural considerations, communication, loss, grief and bereavement, and the final hours.
The IUP Department of Nursing and Allied Health Professions sincerely hopes to partner in the future with our neighbors to provide future programs for CEUs and certification. Thanks to Edie West, ZL newsletter/publicity chair, for coordinating the program, and many heartfelt thanks to all who participated in and attended this event.
