Using Social Media and YouTube in Your Classroom

Posted on 9/6/2011 2:34:47 PM

All faculty members are invited to attend the third Reflective Practice Large Group meeting of the Fall 2011 semester, “Using Social Media and YouTube in the Classroom,” on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, from 3:35 to 4:45 p.m. in the Allenwood, Ackerman Hall.

Do you allow your students to “friend” you on Facebook? Why or why not? Do you have a profile on LinkedIn, so you can give professional recommendations for your alumni or develop research partners at other universities? Do you Tweet? Do you blog? Do you have a YouTube channel?

If not, maybe it's time to meet your students in cyberspace! If you do, please come and share your pedagogical reasoning and great ideas!

IUP’s Center for Teaching Excellence’s Reflective Practice Project will host “Using Social Media and YouTube in the Classroom.” Facilitators are Dr. Michele Papakie of the Journalism Department and Dr. Heide Witthoeft of the Foreign Languages Department.

Please come and join the discussion! (There are always snacks.)

No RSVP is needed.
