The director of Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s (IUP) Small Business Development Center (SBDC) received the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology’s 2011 outstanding researcher award.
Anthony Palamone (at right), director of the IUP Small Business Development Center, has consulted with more than five hundred businesses, and has generated both state and federal funding to support SBDC operations.
“I’m pleased to have received the award,” he said. “It represents recognition for me and for the university’s ability to sustain the longevity of the SBDC.”
The SBDC, part of the Management Services Group, started around 1979 nationally and works directly with clients from the community to develop business concepts and to expand or save existing businesses.
The SBDC takes a client’s concept for a business and turns it into a reality, and works with that process from the vision to the execution, said Palamone, who started with the center in 1997.
“We act as an ally, a counselor, and a sounding board throughout the process,” he said.
