Students enrolled full-time in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics are eligible for the following scholarships.
Patricia Hilliard Robertson Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is to benefit full-time female students in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics who have made a commitment to pursuing a career in the sciences. Candidates must have earned a minimum of 48 credits toward a degree in the following programs: Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Geoscience, and Physics with a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average.
Albert R. Pechan Scholarship
Awarded to an outstanding science major enrolled full time in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
Wienken and Associates Scholarship
Awarded to a student enrolled in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics who has successfully completed at least 30 credit hours and achieved a minimum 2.75 cumulative grade point average.
To apply for these scholarships, please submit the following to the Office of the Dean, College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, 305 Weyandt Hall:
- application form available in Room 305 Weyandt Hall, your department office, or on line
- personal statement addressing your career goals/objectives, involvement in extracurricular activities, service to the community/university
- copy of transcript or academic progress sheet (you do not have to attach an official transcript)
- one letter of recommendation
The deadline for applying for above listed scholarships is April 30, 2009. All above scholarships are nonrenewable.
The Robert Noyce Scholarship/Stipend program seeks to increase the number of basic education teachers with strong content knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The program provides funds for talented STEM majors and STEM professionals who commit to become mathematics and science teachers in high-need schools. Scholarships are provided to college/university juniors or seniors who are majoring in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics who commit to completing certification in science or mathematics and teaching in a high-need school. Likewise, stipends are available for professionals seeking to become science or mathematics teachers who commit to teaching in a high-need school.
