The group Focus the Nation will be holding a meeting on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at 7:30 in 113 Uhler Hall, to discuss the impacts and responses to global warming.

Dr. Mary Lou Zanich, interim dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and IUP's Goldwater Scholarship representative, will be holding two informational meetings about the Goldwater Scholarship Program. The meetings are on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. in Weyandt Hall, room 305.

The Department of Energy Science Graduate Fellowship program supports outstanding graduate students in areas of physics, biology, chemistry, mathematics, engineering, computational sciences, and environmental sciences for students pursuing an eligible graduate degree in 2010–2011.

On Saturday, October 24, 2009, Kaplan will be offering a campuswide opportunity for students to take a free practice GRE, MCAT, LSAT, PCAT, DAT, OAT, or NCLEX administered under simulated testing conditions.

The National Science Foundation East Asia and Pacific Summer Institutes for U.S. Graduate Students is now accepting applications. The deadline is December 8, 2009.

All science majors are invited to a presentation by Dr. Jamie Houseknecht of Penn State University on nanotechnology on Friday, September 18, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. in Weyandt Hall, Room 331. Light refreshments will be provided.
