Your professors: Passionate, committed, and talented musicians and teachers

The Music Department offers a faculty of 26 full-time professors. All are scholars and active musicians, and many still perform on the national and international stage. Unlike many other schools with adjunct professors who come in only on days when they teach, our individual instruments professors are on campus full-time, interacting with their students, help them to reach their full potential.

We have professors who specialize in brass, keyboard, percussion, strings, guitar, harp, voice, and woodwinds. We have nationally and internationally recognized ensemble directors. And we have scholars who bring a wealth of knowledge to lead you through music education, history, theory, and composition. Learn more about our great faculty.

But most importantly, our faculty is dedicated to teaching and mentoring their students.

All graduate students work with an advisor from the Music Department. We match your instrument or passion with their specialty.

Our faculty members are engaged with many activities that serve the university and greater community. Learn more about the department’s ensembles.
