The IUP Wind Ensemble (MUSC 131) is the university's premier concert wind group and is dedicated to the pursuit of music excellence through the performance of the finest wind repertoire. It has a long history of commissioning new music, and continues to premiere works by noted wind band composers.
Founded in 1960, the Wind Ensemble has performed at numerous invited venues, including NAfME and College Band Directors conferences, as well as a myriad of schools across Pennsylvania and the northeast. In addition, the ensemble has won wide acclaim for its multiple compact disc recordings.
Graduates of the IUP Wind Ensemble hold positions in professional ensembles and serve as noted conductors and educators throughout the country.
